Weekend Projects

So I have been really wanting some projects lately and I think my next one will be to make a pair of tie dyed jean shorts. (See below).
I like the ones on the left the best.
They do seem a little difficult to make and actually look good and cute - I am looking to get a pastel color and a nice pleasing to the eye rainbow fade across the front and back, not like grateful dead hippied-out bright primary colors that hurt the eyeballs.

Other styles I like are below:
These are from Etsy.com and are $35.
And THESE are my super favorites - there is no chance in hell I will be able to craft these babies and get these little splatter effects - I just LOVE them.
Also find these on Etsy - also the person's store is really cool - see the spiked loafers.
So once I find directions that are sufficient, I will post them. I just watched a few youtube videos and am becoming more and more inclined to just buy the pair above - between the supplies and risking ruining my bathtub and staining my hands - this looks like kind of an ordeal. Also, each video seems a little different. Will post whatever I decide!

Guilty Pleasures

So this is my guilty pleasure post. Aka: if I lived alone and didn't leave my house (which obviously would have a bunch of kittens in it) I would wear certain things that would make me ridiculously happy to hang out in, but these are things that I most likely don't want to wear in everyday life because a) no one would take me seriously, like not even a little or b) I don't know what b is. But then I think, who cares, maybe I should just buy all these things and wear them all at once?

1. Glitter Nails - I actually have remnants of glitter over my current light nude polish, although there are only chips left. (Nice, I know.) But these take it to a new level with these longer nails. ps. How fun would it be to type with them!?

Now I am no Martha Stewart manicurist, so your guess is as good as mine as to how you create these rainbow nails. I would check another blog for information like that. But if you like looking - here are more ideas. And if I do ever attempt an activity like this (clearly this is more advanced than the jewelry box I am looking to craft), I will definitely post the results.

Crazy, I know.

2. Sparking Accessories - 100% this pair of pumps and this bag would be necessary
Louboutin Crystal pumps - straight out of a music video
Find this on etsy.com here

Kate Spade glitter clutch

3. Rainbow shorts - now I know I'm getting a little excessive here, but why not just go all out at this point, given that - rememberr...- I'm at home where no one can see me. PS: If I had to buy one of these items to wear in real life, these shorts would probably be the first on my list.

More here

4. Animals and living accommodation: Himalayan kittens (that would remain kittens, and I would have multiple) plus most perfect cottage, that would also be most likely smallest cottage in the world, and cutest.

Picture like 6 of these guys, min

If you want to read more about this amazing little cottage, go here. I've been looking at it for a long time now.

Stay-cation

Another small leave of absence I've taken, as I recently moved to a new (much cooler) apartment and done some other random things. But in the midst of "building" my new room - nesting, if you will, I've found some things that... I just really want I just really need. Again, I find etsy housing lots of these thingys.
1. Raw Wood Coat Rack
I'm going to possibly, potentially try and make this on my own. Once I find wood. And a saw.
2. This Surreal Photo. It called to me with it's title "Room for Rent."
Apartment hunting in NYC is NOT FUN. And that is as polite as I can be about it. (I get frustrated when I even think about the 3 weeks I spent with my roommate walking into little dumpy shitholes with sweaty brokers telling us that it was the best thing we were going to see in our lifetimes. Anyways, 3 weeks, 45 apartments, 6 open houses and 4 application rejections later (we were "outbid"), we got a palace.) With a terrace. yea.
3. This is kind of cool because it's a wooden sign that you can customize. Make it your own.
I have an idea of what I would want it to say, but I assure you, it will be nothing like "Dream" or "Laugh Out Loud" or something "Home Sweet Home." I also think that given that I already have a deer head (horns, no head) hanging above my nightstand, which casts a shadow on my ceiling (Cool), that this cowboy would most likely be overkill and I should bring out the rustic theme in other areas. So I think I will do that. Anyways, still a kind of cool thing.
4. Lastly, there is this rustic looking painting that I really like the colors of.
I like anything like this where you look at a photo/painting/small birdhouse/whatever and you think, "I'd live in that, or at least walk around in it, if I could.

So these are my current little prizes that I want to win.
